Corporate Social Responsibility

Hire Vets Platinum Award

IEI’s corporate social responsibility commitment is built around three factors that enhance our service to our clients, staff, suppliers, and the community at large: Environment and Conservation; Employees and Supply Chain; and Global Community Engagement.

The three important factors

  • ENVIRONMENT AND CONSERVATION

    IEI is committed to setting and achieving environmental objectives and our client’s stated objectives for environmental stewardship and sustainability.

    Our efforts include:

    • Achieving at least a 2% reduction in energy costs year over year in managed buildings by tracking energy consumption and implementing energy saving innovations;
    • Preference for components and fixtures with Energy Star and Water Sense ratings;
    • Working knowledge of applicable regulations from the Federal to local levels, including NEPA, CERCLA, Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and RCRA;
    • Informing our clients of cost savings that can be achieved by replacing inefficient boilers with high efficiency options such as condensing boilers, installing boiler-control improvements, installing new heating systems and-hot water systems, and installing boiler-optimization units that control the way boilers burn gas, making them up to 20% more energy efficient;
    • Fitting low-energy bulbs across all our facilities, drastically reducing energy consumption; and
    • Running a continuous energy-efficiency campaign to inform and update all clients and share areas of best practice among all staff.
  • EMPLOYEES AND SUPPLY CHAIN

    Our business is centered on staffing competent, well-supported employees to manage federally owned buildings, programs for safety, and environmental support.

    We support this responsibility by:

    • Providing career opportunities and resources to our workforce, and leading by example in areas such as workplace safety, health and wellness, diversity and inclusion, and training and development;
    • Hiring veterans as they seek to transition to the civilian workforce;
    • Encouraging employees with entrepreneurial drive to launch their own businesses by becoming subcontractors or suppliers to us; and
    • Partnering with veteran-owned, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses.
  • GLOBAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

    We provide lead testing of homes and engage with our community to advance lead poisoning prevention awareness, educate homeowners about the risks of lead.

    • Providing state certified Lead-Based Paint Inspectors and Risk Assessors as volunteers to test homes and children’s toys at community events; and
    • Supporting advocacy groups focused on promoting the prevention of childhood lead poisoning.
